For its Spring-Summer 2019 ad campaign, Longchamp revisits the theme of its first hit mini film ‘The Encounter’, unveiled in celebration of the brand’s 70th anniversary and starring Longchamp ambassador Kendall Jenner. The atmosphere in 'The Ride', directed once again by John-Christopher Pina, reflects the liberty of the seventies. Throughout the film, she flaunts the hottest runway look: fringe shorts and a rust suede crop top – reflecting Longchamp’s expertise in leather work – paired with flat gladiator sandals. Other than its undeniable elegance, this sensual outfit was designed to provide comfort and freedom essential to the Longchamp woman.
As Marie-Laure Dubuisson, Global Marketing and Communications Director, points out: energy, freedom and sensuality are at the heart of the brand's vision. “Our mission is to dress your travels, be it just for a day or a lifetime,” she said, “Even if the atmosphere is very different, freedom remains the central theme in The Encounter and The Ride. ”

A voyage of self-discovery and independence is at the core of Longchamp’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection. For her second show at New York Fashion Week, Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine captures the free-spirited energy of travelers, women who rove the globe with a rock 'n' roll attitude and a wardrobe to match. Particular focus is placed on the distance between Paris and New York, which is visualized with a runway inspired by Andrée Putman and the carpet she designed for the Concorde and a 40-look collection combines the distinct auras of these transatlantic cities.

To mark its 70th anniversary, Longchamp has announced that it will stage its first full-scale runway show at New York Fashion Week in September. The choice of New York epitomizes the free, daring spirit of Longchamp, which is one of the rare independent, family-owned houses in the luxury business.
“We felt that this was the right time to take things to the next level and to set out our vision of the dynamic, cosmopolitan Longchamp woman,” says Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine. “Longchamp has always acted on intuition – something we can allow ourselves to do because we are independent – and we chose New York as we are inspired by the energy and freedom of the city.”

3 May 2018 evening, Longchamp’s President Philippe Cassegrain, Global CEO Jean Cassegrain, Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine, and Vice President & Managing Director of Retail in the U.S. Olivier Cassegrain celebrated the opening of Longchamp Fifth Avenue with special co-host and newly announced campaign face, Kendall Jenner.
Longchamp Fifth Avenue, now the brand’s largest U.S. store adjacent to St. Patrick’s Cathedral was transformed for the evening into Café de Longchamp, bringing the Parisian spirit of the brand’s heritage to New York’s historic Fifth Avenue. While inside, guests were enjoying a DJ set performed by Les Twins. Attendees mingled and discovered special surprises on both levels of the flagship – like a French rosé bar – while others queued up at the Le Pliage® Wheel of Fortune for a chance to win Longchamp prizes. Several talented sketch artists captured guests’ portraits, adding to the Parisian experience.

Longchamp opens its New York City flagship store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, one of the world’s most famous shopping boulevards, on April 13, 2018. Located at 645 Fifth Avenue in the Olympic Tower, adjacent to Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the 4,000 square-foot, two story space will be the brand’s largest outpost in the United States.
The Olympic Tower is an architectural feat, and a bold statement in and of itself offering an elegant backdrop for Longchamp’s prismatic and cinematic façade. The store’s exterior structure is made of layered rows of protruding metal ribbons in soft shades of white and champagne hues. The metal strips are rigid, but are meant to appear as if they are floating, or swaying in the breeze.
The lighting on the flagship’s façade is also unique and new for Longchamp. The design itself enhances the contrasting visual properties between materials such as pearl-lacquered, matte champagne metal and polished stainless steel. The vibrant facade represents a fresh visual identity, marking the next chapter in Longchamp's storied and innovative history.

Taking the concept of travel gear into a new era, the “Longchamp by Shayne Oliver” collection merges Longchamp's history of craftsmanship and French elegance with Oliver’s transformative aesthetic, resulting in a dynamic offering for both men and women. The collection includes leather goods, footwear, ready-to-wear and garment bags, as well as a new iteration of Longchamp’s iconic Le Pliage® tote, reimagined by Oliver. “I really like the idea of working with brands that are masters of their craft,” Oliver shared. “Longchamp has a prestigious history of providing luxury travel essentials with expert craftsmanship. It made total sense to work with them on my first all accessories project.”
Throughout the collection, proportions are challenged and silhouettes are altered, disrupting the preconceptions of modern day travel. Travel takes on a new art form, underscored by unwavering freedom and temporal mobility. ""While this is not the first collaboration for Longchamp or Shayne Oliver, it was a particularly energizing experience to work with Shayne in order to offer an unexpected collection to our customers,"" said Longchamp Artistic Director, Sophie Delafontaine. ""Designing Longchamp product through Shayne's lens was an exciting challenge that allowed us to create product that is truly original.""
Longchamp By Shayne Oliver will launch at select Longchamp stores in the US and on Longchamp.com before rolling out to Longchamp stores internationally in early May 2018.The products from Shayne Oliver x Longchamp collection will be available online and in-store from 4 May 2018.

Trinidad and Brooklyn raised, Shayne Oliver is the founder of the creative cult label Hood By Air. based in New York City. Oliver’s interest in fashion and experimentation began at an early age when he founded the HBA creative collective in an underground warehouse dance community that subsequently emerged as a major fashion house in 2013.
After exponential success and collaborations with the brand, Oliver decided to expand his vision by guest designing at major fashion houses under the legacy series A.S.S.O. (As Seen by Shayne Oliver) in order to promote his core concepts of individuality, high/low juxtaposition and expression. 2018 sees A.S.S.O.’s major collaboration with French luxury fashion brand, Longchamp, in a redesign of the capsule.Momentum and possibility, movement and progression have always been the forces behind Shayne Oliver’s vision, driving the artistic direction of his collections and collaborations. These elements have informed Oliver’s overall point of view, which he brings to his new collaboration with Longchamp. The founder of New York-based cult menswear label Hood By Air joined forces with the luxury French leather goods and fashion house to develop an inventive capsule collection of travel accessories and ready-to-wear that merges the distinct creative spirit of both collaborators.

In anticipation of the opening, the building’s façade was adorned with the work of French artist, Remed, the latest artist commissioned by Longchamp through its Artwalk Movement.
Longchamp first launched its Artwalk series in 2016 as a way of transforming the conspicuous sites of its new store construction and renovations into large-scale public works of art. The program debuted in partnership with Ryan McGinness, who covered the brand’s historical Saint-Honoré store in Paris during its renovation with graphic, digitally printed. For the second installation, German artist Franz Ackerman was enlisted by the French luxury house to design a spectacular covering during the construction of the brand’s new Shanghai store, which recently opened in Spring 2017.
As Longchamp continues its global expansion with the Fifth Avenue Flagship, Paris-born artist Guillaume Alby, best known as Remed, was invited to create the latest work in the Artwalk series.
His painting, titled ‘L’Eau delà – Émoi’, will be unveiled on the store façade and will remain for New Yorkers and tourists to enjoy throughout the store’s construction.
Jean Cassegrain, LONGCHAMP CEO adds: “We are thrilled to be continuing our Artwalk movement in New York with this beautiful and modern piece by Remed. It is exciting to see his work come to life on such a largescale canvas and we hope that it will be enjoyed by the public until we are ready to open the doors of our Fifth Avenue flagship.
