Wild rhythms, vibrant colors...How do we bring a touch of exoticism to our lives when not living in Rio de Janeiro?
Well, it's simple...we dance the Capoeira!

No, the Capoeira is not a gathering of handsome Brazilian men performing acrobatics in front of our gaping eyes, well... not just that!

The Capoeira is a history before all else, a cultural and artistic heritage that comes straight from Brazil. A skillful combination of dance, song, and martial arts, the Capoeira develops endurance, flexibility, and balance, but above all, sends us travelling!

After training, the festive ambiance sets in. The Capoeira dancers form a Roda and take over for an extraordinary performance combining technique and aestheticism. And because it's important to finish on a sensual note, the course is completed with the Samba!

East meets west

As a Japanese person, there are times, however, when my eyes are opened by things from abroad. I realize then how I’ve forgotten the good things about my own country.

Asian models have been very prominent in the Parisian fashion world over the past few years. They are more present than ever in fashion magazines and in articles. In this way I think the world might be redefining the idea of “exotic” beauty and elegance. Westerners consider exotic, as things that come from Asia, paradoxically, for us exoticism is symbolized by things which come from elsewhere. I like Lindstrom, a Norwegian musician. His music a sort of house music, but with a ’70s rock and folk influence that somehow gives it a nostalgic, oriental feel. You might not think the music of a Norwegian would make an Asian person like me feel this way, but, surprisingly, it does.

The music I always listen to, the places I go to eat at, the fashion I wear: If I take the time to stand back and look at things like these, I can feel the richness of life influenced by different cultures. Isn’t that exoticism…?

Better than wearing just denim every day, you might consider wearing a kimono from time to time and bringing exoticism to life?

My exotic Paris

Sometimes I escape from home. I love discovering new Japanese recipes by the rue Sainte-Anne. I take a stroll, and right when I pass in front of a restaurant filled with Japanese people, in I go! It's generally a good sign. My favorite spot: at the counter, facing the chefs, in the heat of the action, where, in several choreographed motions, my dish takes life.

A drink after dinner? Go towards Pershing Hall, a place where I try to get closest to the wall fanned with greenery. So close, that I escape in its branches. Lost in the patio, in this immense forest, alone, with my mini lighter and cocktail in hand, I am the biggest Parisian adventurer.

Longing for people and parties? My taxi makes its way through the streets of Saint-Germain-des-Près to drop me off at La Pena. I walk down several steps, and in this body of music, I sail between Cuba and Puerto Rico. And it's only at the break of dawn, after the last few notes, that its last breath brings me back home.
